What’s actually happening in the golf swing when we have a good amount of lag is as we start our downswing, our hands are still moving back and the first move down is going to be a drag and flow.
The wall helps that feel
Too many golfers try and force golf swing lag. YOU MUST AVOID the feeling of holding off the release of the clubhead with the hands. In fact, trying to create lag this way often results in bad golf shots and misses. It creates tension and forces a last-second flip of the hands to try to close the clubface. Without that flip, it’s shank and pushes to name just 2 golf swing faults.
What you need to do when using this drill at home is to start the downswing with your lower body. I don’t want you to force the pulling down, he feels pull. Ideally if you have seen other lessons of ours you know that it’s important for a simple golf swing that is consistent you have to feel the weight and gravity of the arms and club unit.
Really the arms are doing little more than dropping in the golf swing as it changes direction with the left arm staying connected in the downswing.
When you cast you need a compensation in order to hit the ball (like lifting up or you’ll hit the ground before the ball), so until you also eliminate that compensation you are going to struggle.
