Phil Mickelson seems poised to launch a “Hit Bombs” clothing line after filing a recent trademark for his favorite phrase. In the meantime, he seems content launching bombs on the golf course.
Mickelson had the highlight machine cranking early on Friday at the Workday Charity Open with an eagle on his second hole. On his fifth hole of the day he nearly made another after hitting a ridiculous tee shot on Muirfield Village’s drivable par-4 14th. Well, driveable if you’re a swashbuckling 50-year-old who likes to put on a show.
Watch as Mickelson takes a ridiculous line off the tee by aiming at the water guarding the green, but perfectly pulls off a towering cut that lands softly on the green, about nine feet away from the hole:
We’re not sure if Phil would categorize that as a “hellacious seed” due to the height of the shot, but it was spectacular nonetheless.
Unfortunately, his eagle attempt was a bit less spectacular and he settled for a tap-in par. Still, the 316-yard poke certainly stayed on brand.
