With each day that passes at Colonial Country Club, the Charles Schwab Challenge comes closer to resembling what we remember to be a typical PGA Tour event. Naturally, it was going to take some time for players and caddies to become acclimated to “the new normal” as the tour implemented numerous healthy and safety procedures in order to restart its season after a three-month break due to the coronavirus. But as the practice days passed into the opening rounds of the tournament, the routine of daily temperature checks and walking the fairways without fans has become, well, more routine.
With the 36-hole cut having been made—67 golfers advancing to the weekend after 148 started play on Thursday—and weekend play underway, the innate competitive instincts of the remaining tour pros will kick in further as the realization of what they’re playing for comes more into focus. There is, after all, a lot of money to be won this week at Colonial. The overall prize money payout is $7.5 million with the winner earning $1.35 million. It’s been a while since any of these players have played for that kind of money, and it will no doubt be entertaining to see how they handle Sunday pressure once more.
Here’s the prize money payout that each golfer will receive after the final round. We’ll update this when play ends on Sunday to list what each individual player made in their return to the tour.
