Callaway Golf has unveiled the latest addition to its iconic Big Bertha range of equipment with the launch of the new Big Bertha irons and hybrids.
Both models are aimed at the super game improvement market and are designed to help high handicap players launch the ball high and low with the minimum of effort.
Big Bertha Irons
The Suspended Energy Core is the engine of the new Big Bertha Irons; a construction never before achieved in a golf club, and designed to deliver easy launch; long consistent distance; and incredible sound and feel.
It starts with a Metal Injection Molded (MIM’d) Tungsten Floating Weight suspended within Callaway’s Urethane Microsphere material. Suspending the floating weight allows the centre of gravity to be positioned deeper in the head, promoting higher launch.
A new thinner and faster 360 Face Cup, boasting a shallow, flexible rim around the perimeter, combines with the high-launch characteristics fuelled from the Suspended Energy Core to deliver long ball flights.
Available 4-SW, with smoked PVD finish, they come with a choice of a light Recoil ESX graphite shaft or and a KBS Max 90 steel shaft, and Lamkin S5 Genesis Grips.
Dr Alan Hocknell, Head of Research and Development at Callaway Golf, said: “Golfers can enjoy distance-enhancing launch conditions we’ve never been able to achieve before in a set of irons, that still remain very easy to hit. It is an unbelievable performance combination that has earned them the right to be called Big Bertha.”
RRP: £1,149 (Steel), £1,399 (Graphite)
Big Bertha Hybrids
Big Bertha is the first Callaway hybrid to combine the company’s unique Jailbreak Technology and adjustability for long distance, fast ball speeds, and easy launch.
The synergy of Jailbreak, which incorporates two internal bars that stiffen the body to place more impact load on the face, and the Hyper Speed Face Cup, promotes power and ball speed across the entire face for increased distance.
The hybrids also feature an entirely new OptiFit Hosel System that is shorter and lighter, allowing the centre of gravity to be optimized for ideal launch conditions.
Available in 3H (19°), 4H (21°), 5H (24°), 6H (27°), 7H (30°), 8H (33°), a new progressive head shaping creates high MOI designs that are both appealing to look at and easy to hit. They are available with premium Recoil ESX and ZT9 shafts to provide excellent feel and control.
RRP: £269 per club
Big Bertha Irons and Hybrids will be available from March 1, 2019. For further information visit https://uk.callawaygolf.com/
